What is Behaviorism? John B. Watson describes it as Simply as the  Behavior of the human Being(). Behaviorism came about roughly around 1912, it was actually given the name by Watson. As behaviorism continued to emerge it focused on consciousness, although Watson disagreed. He thought that consciousness or existence of consciousness goes back to the ancient days of superstition and magic. Basically he argued that consciousness was a man made concept and had nothing to do with psychology or Behaviorism. Chalmers states that Consciousness poses the most baffling problems in the science of the mind. There seemed to be nothing that psychologists knew more intimately than conscious experience, but there was nothing harder to explain( Chalmers 1995). This thought process then led to the idea of dualism, which is not considered a part of psychology. By this time behaviorists realized that their hypothesis which derived from a religious mind-body problem would never reach or get them the results the intending on getting.
Behaviorists at the time decided to make behaviorism a natural science. They basically were building themselves a platform. The establishment of behaviorism continued, with guidelines for the newly developed science. Behaviorists determined that not only what they could see psychically but was what internal also was considered to be behavior. J. B. Watson states that terms such as sensation, desire, purpose, thinking and emotion were irrelevant from a behaviorist point of view as they represented  an aspect of the science that could not be determined, but were rather in the same category of consciousness and they could not be explained scientifically.  As a result you would find the behaviorist working in a similar fashion to an actual scientist.
